The Rebecca Foundation has spearheaded the first cohort of Ghanaian children to visit China on a sports and cultural exchange programme from 21st – 30th October 2018. 9 out of 15 children representing Ghana were from SOS Children’s Villages Ghana. On arrival at Beijing, the team was welcomed by Mr. Freddie Arthur, the first secretary to Ghana’s Ambassador to China. The team also paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Ambassador to China, His Excellency Edward Boateng and his team of Officers. After their brief interaction, the team headed for Quigdao Licang Experimental School with Mr. Arthur (Ambassador’s first secretary) and Mr. Richard Darko, Press Secretary of the Rebecca Foundation. At Quigdao, the children received a warm welcome by the Headmaster of Qingdao Licang Experimental School Mr. Qi Feng, staff and pupils.
Notable among the activities marking the exchange programme between the two groups were; calligraphy, Kung Fu (basic self-defense skills), ping pong (table tennis), robotics class, preparation of dumpling (a Chinese traditional food), football match and site seeing.
