NEDCO ADOPTS A FAMILY HOUSE AT SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGE TAMALE

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company limited (NEDCo), a subsidiary of the Volta River Authority (VRA) has adopted a family house in SOS Children’s Village Tamale.This support is geared towards providing quality care and education for the underprivileged children being cared for in the Village.

As part of adopting a family house, NEDCo is committed to developing a relationship and bond with the children in the family house through mentoring sessions, social engagements, sharing experiences and holding leisure sessions with them.

Presenting the cheque to the Village on behalf of the Managing Director of NEDCo, the Director of Services, Surveyor David Adomako Mensah expressed the hope of positively touching the lives of underprivileged children through this support.

Addressing the delegation from NEDCO, the Programme Director at the SOS CV Tamale location, Madam Benedicta Pealore commended NEDCo for their kind gesture and further encouraged other organizations to emulate their example.

She revealed that the SOS Children’s Village runs a Family Based Care (FBC) which provides long term support for children who have lost parental care due to various reasons and a Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) for children at risk of losing parental care. She indicated that SOS supports and empowers the parents of such children or caregivers to be self -reliant to care of their children. She was excited about the new bond and partnership with NEDCo and indicated the organization’s strong resolve to ensure that the support given will be fully utilized for the care of the children.
