Celebrating 50 Years of Impact
Fifty years ago, the first SOS Children’s Village was opened in Tema, a symbolic gesture underscoring the organisation's readiness to respond to the growing needs of children in need.
The project, which was the first of its kind then in the country started providing opportunities for children, who have lost parental care or at the risk of losing it; and committed to bringing out the best in each child regardless their background. Anchored by such a strong tradition, SOS Children’s Villages in Ghana became well-positioned and forged ahead bringing its quality of service to its prime targets.
I am thrilled to share with you that, this year, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of our steadfast commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children and families facing difficult situations. The climax of this significant milestone saw the launching of our Endowment Fund dedicated to raising more funds to honour our collective efforts and influence in local communities.
Your unwavering dedication and hard work have been the driving force behind our successes over the years, and I am confident that, together, we will make this anniversary year truly memorable.
We need to share our success stories and keep stakeholders informed about every project and programme activities to enrich our understanding of the various childcare and protection measures being implemented nationwide, in the best interest of the children entrusted into our care.
I am enthusiastic about the many more years ahead, and I have full confidence that each one of you will play your respective roles to ensure that we achieve our goal of reaching out to many more children, young people and families facing difficult situations.
Thank you for your unwavering support, dedication, and for creating lasting memories as we continue our journey to improve the lives of those who need it most.
