Family Strengthening Programme

Our family strengthening cluster

Within the Family Strengthening (FS) cluster, all community-based and family-focused interventions are implemented to ensure that children and young people without parental care or at risk of losing it grow up in protective and supportive environments. The FS cluster comprises two service types:

Direct Family Empowerment (DFE)

Supports children, young people, and caregivers directly across all FS projects in the Member Association,

Community Empowerment for Family Empowerment (CFE)

Strengthens the wider community systems and structures that surround families, including schools, parent associations, traditional authorities, community-based organizations, and local governance bodies.

How we do it

Strengthening Families for Lasting Impact:

Through evidence-based programmes, caregivers have access to training, psychosocial support, and livelihood opportunities. By equipping families with training on parenting, economic resilience, and access to essential services, we help children to grow up safely in the care of their biological families.

Youth-Centered Programmes and Development

Children and young people are at the heart of our work. The organization offers youth-focused initiatives including life skills training, education support, vocational development, and entrepreneurial opportunities that foster personal growth, resilience, and empowerment.

Community development

We recognize that strong communities are essential to sustaining family well-being. By collaborating with traditional leaders, community-based organizations, government agencies, and private partners, we foster protective environments where children are seen, heard, and supported.

Our family strengthening pillars

Economic Empowerment

We provide caregivers grants to carry out income generating activities and train them in basic financial practices and business management

Parenting

We provide caregivers adequate training in childcare and parenting skills to provide quality care and protection for children and young people.

We strengthen women’s capacity through Village Savings and Loans Associations by improving income generation, financial literacy, business planning, marketing, decision-making, and access to credit.

Partnerships

Through collaborations with project communities, local individuals, groups and organizations we train our project participants to promote and sustain the self-reliance of families.
