Established in 1992, the Asiakwa Programme Location in the East-Akim Municipal, Eastern Region of Ghana is approximately 86 km northwest of the capital city, Accra.

The Village was commissioned by the then President of Ghana, the Late Jerry John Rawlings, and the former Secretary-General of the SOS Children’s Villages International, Mr. Wendl Handl.
