In the heart of Kumasi, where colourful traditions, stories, and music have been passed from one generation to the next, children are growing up surrounded by care, culture, and hope. This is the Kumasi Programme Location, known as “The Village of Rich Culture.”
Established in 2010 and located in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region, the Village draws its name from a land once shaped by the great Ashanti Empire (1701–1901). Here, children learn not only about their heritage, but also about belonging, respect, and the strength of family.

The Village is home to 12 family houses, where children grow up in a safe, supportive, and family-like environment with dedicated caregivers. Around them are spaces that help them heal, learn, and play including a Social Centre, Medical Centre, playground, sports facilities, and the ultra-modern SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, where dreams begin to take shape in the classroom.

Beyond the Village gates, our work continues. The Kumasi Programme Location also supports families in nearby communities, strengthening the economic capacities of parents, protecting children, and helping families stay together. By working hand in hand with communities, we prevent family separation, nurture children’s well-being, and build resilience that lasts.
At the Village of Rich Culture, every child is supported to grow with dignity, rooted in tradition, surrounded by care, and guided toward a brighter future.
