The focus is to support young people to develop hard skills through formal education and Technical Education Vocation Training (TVET)/ apprenticeship. The young people are supported through career exposure and orientation to choose career paths based on their capacity, passion, and the labour trends. This is done in partnership with like-minded organizations who support to build the capacity of these young people. The young people are also equipped with digital skills training to enable them navigate modern technological trends.

We use a structured approach to equip young people with soft skills to complement the hard skills they acquire through education and training. The training focuses on the development of life skills, entrepreneurial skills and employability skills. Through partnerships, young people are exposed to mentorship coaching, internships, job shadowing, and workplace visits to familiarise themselves with working environments and also to acquire the relevant work experience required in the labour market. The trainings are done in the form of boot camps:

• Life skills and career orientation for young people in Junior High School
• Career planning and development for young people in second-cycle institutions
• Employability and entrepreneurship skills for young people in tertiary institutions

These initiatives are tailored to foster practical competencies, professional networks, and market-relevant skills to enable smooth transition into employment or entrepreneurial ventures. Some of the projects under this intervention are No Business as Usual (NBU), NBU-YEC, GrEEn, and SPARK Change Makers.

This intervention involves building the capacity of young people in leadership and advocacy skills to enhance their participation in decision making.  Through leadership forums, youth assemblies, and decision-making platforms, young people contribute to policy discussions and programme design, civic engagement, and leadership capacity.

Programmes are informed by trauma-sensitive and psychosocial best practices, providing mental, emotional, and physical support to foster resilience and self-efficacy. Integrated well-being initiatives include mental health awareness creation, reproductive health education, and structured psychosocial support to enable comprehensive development of young people.

Young people are engaged in various community service initiatives and civic projects designed to reinforce social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and community cohesion. These initiatives foster practical leadership skills, ethical reasoning, resilience, network building and a commitment to sustainable development

We also focus on digital access and learning for young people, helping them to stay connected, build skills for employability and entrepreneurship purposes, and navigate the internet responsibly. Some of these youth development activities are carried out through YouthCan! initiatives and enhanced by ICT4D (YouthLink).
